The mandatory quarantine imposed on the English and Australian players who are coming off a limited-overs series in the United Kingdom have raised great confusion regarding the availability of these players. All English and Australian players were allowed to take part in their team’s first match as of now, except for KKR who are stationed in Abu Dhabi. The quarantine protocols are different in this emirate and hence the ambiguity regarding the availability of KKR players remains to be solved. But as per reports KKR CEO Venky Mysore has given a clarification that all of KKR’s overseas core will be available for selection for their first match against Mumbai Indians, this Wednesday.

Morgan, Cummins, and Banton available for selection

When the BCCI approached the UAE government for relaxation in the mandatory quarantine periods of English and Australian players who are coming from a bubble, the government instructed that the players who are heading to Dubai and Sharjah will have to stay in 36hr quarantine whereas players who are to go to Abu Dhabi, which is a different Emirate will have to stay in 6 days mandatory quarantine.  By this rule, only KKR’s foreign trio of Pat Cummins, Eoin Morgan, and Tom Banton were supposed to stay in 6 days quarantine. And all the rest of the English and Australian players were allowed to participate in their opening fixture.

But luckily for KKR, this mandatory quarantine period ends today morning and hence all of their foreign recruits will be available for selection. The confirmation regarding the same came from none other than KKR’s CEO Venky Mysore.

KKR takes on MI in Abu Dhabi

KKR will be starting their IPL 2020 campaign against a strong Mumbai Indians, who lost their opening fixture to CSK. But still, on paper Mumbai looks a well-balanced side than KKR. KKR have boosted their squad with some smart buys in this year’s auction. Pat Cummins who is valued at 15crores will be their go-to man as far as the bowling department is concerned. With both teams having plenty of hard-hitter lined-up, the match promises to be an exciting encounter.
