KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer, integral components of India’s ODI middle order, have been on the road to recovery at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) due to injuries. The cricketing fraternity eagerly awaits their return to the field.

A recent match simulation exercise at the NCA showcased both Rahul and Iyer batting together, injecting hope and optimism. Iyer’s involvement in a practice game, encompassing fielding for 50 overs and batting for 38, indicates that he’s nearing full fitness.

In the absence of Rahul and Iyer, Sanju Samson and Suryakumar Yadav have emerged as consistent performers in the ODIs. While Samson boasts an impressive average of 55, Yadav’s prowess in the T20 format has earned him trust within the team management.

Tilak Varma’s inclusion has also stirred excitement. His impactful debut in T20Is and versatile capabilities have garnered attention and headlines.

Conforming to the Asia Cup regulations, teams can field squads of 17 players. In line with this, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Nepal have already announced their respective 17-member squads for the event, setting the stage for a competitive tournament.

As the countdown to the Asia Cup continues, all eyes are on India’s squad and the possible XI that will take the field, carrying the hopes and aspirations of a cricket-crazy nation.
