ATK will look to regain the top spot from FC Goa as they play hosts to FC Goa at the iconic Salt Lake Stadium as the Indian Super League goes through it’s final few league games prior the knockouts. However, ATK will have a stern test ahead as they take on a resilient Chenniayin FC unit who has recently found form and are back in the race of sneaking into the top four.
Having registered four wins on the bounce, ATK is currently second in the league with 33 points. Meanwhile, Chennaiyin FC’s four-match winning streak came to an end through a goalless draw against Bengaluru FC as they occupy the sixth spot with 22 points. Though Chennai finds itself at six, they’ve still got three games in hand and are just four points shy of fourth-placed Mumbai City who have just one more game remaining. With things intensifying in the final few stages, the upcoming fixture between ATK and Chennaiyin FC promises to be an enticing affair.
Date- Sunday, February 16
Kick-Off- 7:30 PM (IST)
Venue- Salt Lake Stadium
In the most recent game against Odisha FC, it was Roy Krishna’s sensational hat-trick which bagged ATK the win. That being said, the hosts should go with a similar playing eleven. Edu Garcia is likely to accompany Krishna uptop. David Williams and Pronay Halder will once again be expected to be on the bench, due to Javi Hernandes and Edu Garcia impressive performances lately.
Anirudh Thapa should be made available in the midfield position after missing out against Kerala Blasters due to suspension. However, Thoi Singh did receive a red card in the last game and will be ruled out against ATK. With Thoi Singh out of contention, Andre Schembri should be made available to play out wide. Man in form, Nerijus Valskis will be expected to lead the attack.
