They ended on top of the points table in group stages and also defeated Nangarhar Leopards in the semi-final by a hefty margin of 171 runs. Darwish Rasooli and Chris Gayle gave a brilliant start to the team scoring 78 and 54 respectively. Mohammad Nabi also played a brilliant cameo of 47 runs in 16 balls to help the team reach a total of 235 runs. Mohammad Nabi starred with the ball taking four wickets while Qais Ahmed took three wickets. Mirwais Ashraf also took two wickets to restrict Nangarhar Leopards at 64 runs leading to an easy one-sided win. They will hope to capitalize on the momentum and perform similarly in the final.
Kabul Zwanan won the semi-final against Paktia Panthers by 90 runs. Colin Ingram and Laurie Evans played good knocks in middle order scoring 44 and 31 runs respectively. Rashid Khan also played a good cameo down the order scoring 35 runs in 19 balls to set a target of 192 for Paktia. Rashid Khan took a four-wicket haul while Muslim Musa took two wickets and was well supported by other bowlers also. They will hope to come all guns blazing to win the final of APL 2018.
A good match can be expected between both strong teams running high on momentum to win the Inaugural season of Afghanistan Premier League.
