“Dhoni was better than Virat Kohli,” says Virender Sehwag

The swashbuckling opener Virender Sehwag has said that the current Indian management doesn’t know how to back players and the former captain Dhoni was a master of that.

Things heating up on KL Rahul’s position in the team

Ever since the disappearance of Yuvraj and Raina in the middle order, India struggled to find perfect middle order bats. With the amount of talent that India possess in the domestic background, replacing a player should have never been an issue but the middle order problem for India seems to be unsolvable for now.

Though India is winning each and every bilateral series, the middle order problems seem to be growing large day by day. The recent boom is the arrival of KL Rahul as a finisher for India and the snub of Rishabh Pant who was backed by the team to the hilt and just when he seemed to find his feet in the team was dropped from the team.

This management doesn’t know to back players-Virender Sehwag

The world cup winner and the legendary opener Virender Sehwag is the recent one to criticize the current Indian team management for its poor thought process.

Here’s what Sehwag said-

“If K.L. Rahul fails four times batting at No. 5, the current Indian team management will look to change his slot. However, same wasn’t the case with Dhoni, who knew how important it is to back players at such positions, having himself gone through the hard grind”

The Nawab of Najafgarh also questioned the growth of a player if a player doesn’t get enough backing from the team management.

“With the top-order finding it easier for a while in limited-over cricket, it is those in the middle-order who need backing from the captain. If you don’t give players time, how else will they learn and become big players?”.

Meanwhile, the Indian skipper hinted at Rahul will be their first choice wicketkeeper for the upcoming Kiwi series

Virat Kohli said-

“We have to persist with it(on Rahul being their 1st choice wicket-keeper) as he has done well. We have to see whether it works, you cannot chop and change. I do not see why we should change this playing XI”

India will start their  T20I series against New Zealand on January 24th.
