Former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir has picked Virat Kohli’s knock of 183 runs against Pakistan in Asia Cup as the latter’s greatest knock in the ODI cricket. In a recent conversation with Star Sports alongside Ashoke Dinda and Irfan Pathan, Gautam Gambhir picked Virat Kohli’s innings of 183 runs against Pakistan as the best-ever knock played by Kohli.
Recalling the Asia Cup game against Pakistan, Gambhir heaped praise on Virat Kohli. He rated the knock of current India skipper as the Kohli’s greatest knock from all points of view.
Virat Kohli has played many unbelievable innings across the three formats, but this is one of his greatest innings from all points of view. First of all, we were chasing 330, then India was 0/1, and then scoring 183 out of the 330 runs, that too against Pakistan, and that time, he was not that experienced too. According to me, I think probably this is one of Virat Kohli’s greatest innings, honestly.
said Gautam Gambhir while discussing the best of Asia Cup on ‘Star Sports’ Cricket Connected.
In case you didn’t know:
It was the 5th game of the Asia Cup 2012, where India met Pakistan in a high-octane game. Batting first, Pakistan gave India a target of 330 runs. Chasing the target India lost Gautam Gambhir in the first over itself. Virat Kohli, then, walked in at number 3 to played a knock of the lifetime to give India a historic win. Kohli first built a partnership of 133 runs with Sachin Tendulkar and then a partnership of 172 with Rohit Sharma to take India to the brink of victory. However, Kohli couldn’t take India over the line and fell only 12 runs away from the target. Before getting out, Kohli made sure India gets one over their arch-rivals Pakistan courtesy his innings of 183 runs of 148 deliveries.
