Cricketers from around the cricketing nations, where the spread of COVID-19 has reduced have started to train again after the forced COVID-19 break. But the cricketers from India haven’t had an opportunity to train ever since March 2020, as the nation is still battling against the novel coronavirus. As per the reports coming in, the BCCI centrally contracted Indian cricketers will get back to the training mode in newly renovated Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Team India to resume training

This week started off with a piece of positive news for all cricket fans, as BCCI announced that the IPL will be held in the UAE from September to November. To add more joy to the fans, the reports coming in are suggesting that the centrally contracted Indian cricketers will return to training mode in a camp that will be organized by the BCCI in the newly renovated Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad from August 18 to September 4.

“The final decision about the venue is yet to be taken. But I can tell you that Motera is going to host the Indian team from August 18 to September 4,” the source associated with GCA said.

“After its renovation, the facilities that the stadium in Motera provide are at par with the best stadiums in the world. The vastness of Motera can give players a bio-secure environment, which has become important criteria following the pandemic,” the source stated.

“Among the facilities, the clubhouse has an Olympic size swimming pool, a 3D projector theatre and facilities for various sports including tennis, table tennis, badminton and squash which will keep the players engaged as they will stay on the campus,” he said.

Motera Stadium, the front runner to host Team India training

Even though no statement had been made by the BCCI officially, the stadium in Motera offers some good facilities for the players to keep them busy in the bio-secure environment, making it an ideal choice to host Team India.

It was renovated at a cost of Rs 800 crore approximately and was inaugurated by the US President Donald Trump recently. The stadium has four dressing rooms along with a 55-room clubhouse with modern amenities.

As per earlier reports, the picturesque stadium in Dharamsala was also a contender to host India’s training camp but the better facilities will turn the coin in favour of Motera.
