India will have their task cut out when they face Australia in a 3 match ODI series starting tomorrow.

2-1 in favour of Australia: Ponting

Australia’ greatest captain of all time Ricky Ponting on Sunday took to Twitter to answer some of the questions shot at him by his fans. The two-time world cup winning captain answered some interesting questions from fans and one such question was asked regarding the scoreline of India vs Australia series and Ponting said that Australia will win it 2 to 1.

Australia will be full of confidence after an excellent World Cup and a great summer of Test cricket but India will be keen to redeem themselves from the last ODI series loss against Australia. Prediction: 2-1 Australia”

Ricky Ponting was also seen confident about Marnus Labuschagne performing well in the limited-overs format after showing his batting prowess in the longer format of the game.

On Marnus Labuschagne

“I think he’ll do a great job for Australia in the middle order. He’s a very good player of spin, a very good runner between the wickets, gun in the field and can bowl some handy leg-spin so the overall package is very appealing.”

The imperious home season for India and Australia

India and Australia are currently sitting in the top 2 positions of the ICC ranking for the test team as well in the world test championship points table. Both the teams brushed aside each and every side that toured to their places in this home season.

India whitewashed Sri Lanka in their recent outing in the T20I format to go with Test and T20I series victories over South Africa and Bangladesh. They also won the limited-overs series against West Indies. Australia, on the other hand, didn’t even lose a single game in the 11 games they played across formats in their home summer against Pakistan, Sri Lanka and New Zealand.

Both the teams will be high on confidence and one crackerjack of a series is on cards for sure. The first ODI is scheduled to take place on January 14th at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
