KKR are on a roll after winning their last 2 games in the most dramatic fashion possible. They are in the 3rd place at the moment in the points table with 4 wins from 6 games and they have nicely settled as a unit but they might be in for a major setback as the best T20 player in the world in Andre Russell might not play a handful of games for them in the coming days.

Andre Russell is a special player- Dinesh Karthik

Any captain would love to have a player of Andre Russell’s caliber in their playing 11 in the shortest format of the game. Dinesh Karthik is no different. Andre Russell has been an integral part of the KKR side for the past so many years. He is one of the rare breeds who could get into a playing 11 either as a pure bowler or as a pure batsman alone. Such is the impact of that man.

In the game against KXIP, Andre Russell got injured while fielding and didn’t take place in the field as he was taken for medication. When asked about Andre Russell’s injury, Dinesh Karthik said

Whenever Russell gets injured, you know it is hard. He is a very special player, he is a very special person. We need to go and look at him

Can KKR survive without Andre Russell?

KKR are in a much better position at the moment that they can afford to play without Andre Russell for a few games but one important aspect of Andre Russell in this season that KKR will miss is his bowling and not batting. Andre Russell was giving that cushion for Dinesh Karthik at the back end of the innings with the ball so that he was able to use the overs of Pat Cummins upfront, Now, with Andre Russell not in picture, it will be interesting to see how Dinesh Karthik manages his resources with the ball.
