The Steel City, Jamshed will be playing hosts to the newest entrants of the Indian Super League, Odisha FC. Interestingly it’s the Delhi Dynamos who had moved all their senior team operations in Bhubaneshwar due to the stadium’s high rental cost. Henceforth, they will be now known as Odisha FC.
Jamshedpur FC will be wanting to go the distance this time around as they fell four points short of making it to the playoffs last season.
Date- Tuesday, October 22 | Kick-Off- 7:30 PM(IST) | Venue- JRD Tata Sports Complex
Jamshedpur has managed to retain most of its first-team players such as Subrata Patel, Tiri Memo, Farukh Choudhary and Bikash Jairu. To add to that, recruitment of Joyner Lourenco, Narender Gehlot, CK Vineeth, Isaac Vanmalsawma and Jitendra Singh enhances further quality. Former La Liga man, Piti, is also another value addition in the locker. Piti has featured in 147 La Liga games while playing for Rayo Vallecano and Granada.
Jamshedpur FC started the pre-season with 3-3 draw to Real Kashmir FC. Piti, Sergio Castel and Noe Acosta ended up scoring the goals for Jamshedpur FC. It was followed by a 1-0 win against NERCOA as Sergio Castel’s penalty sealed the deal. In the final pre-season friendly, Castel continued his goal-scoring run while Jairu also chipped in with a goal against Gokulam Kerala as they beat them 2-0.
For the first game, Jamshedpur should start with Subrata Paul guarding the goal, while Tiri and Narender Gehlot for a defensive partnership. Bikash Jairu and Jitendra Singh should be available s wing-backs. Aitor Monroy and Memo could partner along in central midfield, while Isaac Vanmalsawma and CK Vineeth playing in the flanks. Piti and Sergio and Sergio Castel should be the two main men forward.
Since Odisha FC is closely associated with the former ISL club Delhi Dynamos, players such as Francisco Dorronsoro, Vinit Rai, Narayan Das, Romeo Fernandes and Shubhm Sarangi have been retained. Spanish forward, Aridane Santana is one of the new faces who has been brought in to lead the attack. Jerry Mawihmingthanga and Gaurav Bora are the new Indian contingent signings.
Odisha FC started their pre-season in Spain where they registered a 3-0 win over FC Asco, through goals scored by Aridane Santana, Carlos Delgado and Nandakumar Sekar. It was then followed by a 1-0 win against the Indian Arrows as Daniel Laljimpuia got his name on the scoresheet thanks to a cross from Xisco Hernandez.
Josep Gombau will be without Lallianzuala Chhangte due to the winger joining Chnnaiyin FC recently. Francisco Dorronsoro should be the first choice keeper for his side. Carlos Delgado, Gaurav Bora, Shubham Sarangi and Narayan Das could comprise the back four. Diwandou Digne and Vinit Rai could form a partnership in central midfield. Whereas, Xisco Hernandez should chip in as the playmaker of his side. Nandakumar Sekar and Jerry Mawihmingthanga are likely to accommodate the wings as Aridane Santana could start up top.
