Navdeep Saini has made the whole world sit and take notice of what he is displaying on the field. His breakneck pace has hugely impressed each and everyone around the world. The Indian skipper Virat Kohli himself was amused with the pace at which he hurried the Sri Lankan batsmen in the 2nd T20I.

Gautam Gambhir: Navdeep Saini latest gem in India’s fast bowling treasure

Gautam Gambhir was fascinated with the way Navdeep Saini bowled in the 2nd T20I and heaped praises on him. Navdeep Saini on Tuesday bowled rockets to Sri Lankan batsmen who had no clue on how to tackle his pace. Navdeep Saini’s pace hurried the Sri Lankan batsmen and he finished with impressive figures of 4 overs for 18 runs and 2 wickets

Gambhir on Saini’s performance,

“Like a healthy Sensex is indicative of a thriving economy, Navdeep Saini’s form indicates that systems in Indian cricket are robust and productive. His story was devoid of direction and purpose but now his life and bowling has both. The spell that he bowled in Indore in the second T20I against Sri Lanka must have left captain Virat Kohli feeling like a millionaire”

From a tennis-ball player to an Indian speedster

Gambhir also recalled the time when he first met Navdeep Saini when he was captaining the Delhi team for a Ranji game.

He said,

“Saini was introduced to me by my Delhi teammate Sumit Narwal during the 2013-14 domestic season. I was trying to make it back to the Indian team while captaining the Delhi team. We were always on the lookout for quality fast bowlers. Narwal got Saini to bowl at a net practice of the Delhi Ranji Trophy team. But he almost didn’t make it to that practice session. Narwal later told me that Saini was keener on playing a tennis-ball game rather than bowling as a net bowler of the Delhi Ranji team”

Gambhir also said that destiny had other plans as Saini’s tennis ball match canceled that day and the next day he arrived in Feroze Shah Kotla and the rest was history.

India will play Sri Lanka in the 3rd and final T20I on Friday.
