England’s limited-overs team went through a period of resurgence in the last 4 years. After their heartbreaking exit from the 2015 World Cup, they completely changed the brand of cricket they played. Under Captain Eoin Morgan, they built a strong aggressive batting unit that could take on any bowlers in the world. One of the main stars of this new face English line-up was Jason Roy. In his latest interview, he opened up about his views on who the current best batsman in the world is.

Joe Root better than Kohli and Smith says, Jason Roy

England opener Jason Roy in his recent interview with the mentor of T10 team Bengal Tigers, Anis Sajan opined that his England teammate Joe Root is a better overall batsman than Virat Kohli and Steven Smith. The question came up as a part of Rapid fire round where Roy was asked to name one among these three for the current best batsman in the world.

“I have to say one of my good pals, Joe Root for sure. He’s an absolute gun. Joe Root, Virat Kohli, Steve Smith imagine them in the same team. Wow” said Roy.

This reply came in as a no surprise as Joe Root has been providing the much-needed stability to this explosive English batting line-up. In terms of anchoring the innings, he comes second to no one in world cricket considering the amount of explosive batsman he has to partner with. It is fair to say that the rest of the England batsman play around Joe Root, with him always playing the long innings.

On being asked who the better captain among Eoin Morgan and Joe Root was, he clarified that he had played very little under Joe Root and was tough to choose between the two. He went onto praise Morgan for changing the entire culture and approach of England team and opined that Morgan was one those guys, with whom he could share everything. He also revealed his desire of opening the batting with Rohit Sharma one day if possible.
