Yuzvendra Chahal has been very active on social media during the quarantine days doing TikTok videos and by commenting on each and every posts and Instagram live’s of his fellow teammates. On one such live he asked Anushka Sharma to convince Virat to make him open the batting. Virat gave a fitting reply to Yuzi today by commenting below one of RCB’s instagram posts.

Chahal to open?

Yuzvendra Chahal is probably one of the best leg-spinners going around in the world right now, but one thing he is not known for is his batting. His highest score in ODIs is an unbeaten 18, while his best show with the bat in a T20 International (T20I) is 3 not-out. Chahal himself has often made fun of his own batting, while the likes of India captain Virat Kohli and opener Rohit Sharma have been trolling him over his skills with the willow of late.

So it came as a surprise when Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), who Chahal represents in the Indian Premier League (IPL), on Tuesday shared a post on Instagram reminding fans that the leg-spinner had once scored 135 and 46 in a match against Himachal Pradesh U-19 in the 2008/09 Cooch Behar Trophy in Bengaluru.

“Fancy playing up the order, Yuzi?” they wrote at the end of the post.

Kohli not impressed with the idea

But Kohli, who also captains Chahal in his national side as well as in the IPL responded:

“Definitely exhibition game,”

he commented on the post, along with a laughing emoji, leaving fans in doubt.

But many fans responded to Kohli’s comment urging him to open the batting with Chahal when RCB do take to the field next.

“Kohli is scared”- Chahal

In response to Kohli’s remark that he’ll consider such an option maybe in an exhibition match made Chahal to comment that Kohli is scared that he’ll loose his Number 3 spot to him.

“Scared for losing you no.3 spot bhaiya?” he replied.

IPL suspended until further notice

The current season of the IPL was scheduled to start on March 29, but was initially postponed to April 15 due to the coronavirus pandemic. The cash-rich league was then suspended indefinitely due to the lockdown being extended.
