Both these teams missed out on the playoff berth last season. Canterbury ended on the fourth spot with four wins from 10 matches whereas Otago finished at the bottom as they mustered two wins from their season.

Otago Volts will begin the Super Smash with the home game. They have assembled a solid unit together. They have experienced campaigners in Jacob Duffy, Neil Broom, Hamish Rutherford and Anaru Kitchen. Mitch Renwick and Michael Rippon are two names who impressed in the recent Ford Trophy.

Canterbury Kings will be captained by Cole McConchie. Chad Bowes and Cam Fletcher will be the batting pillars for the Kings side. Captain McConchie, Andrew Ellis and Ed Nuttall make up the bowling strength.

Anaru Kitchen and Nathan Smith will hold the all-rounder positions. Jacob Duffy will be the lead spinner.

Christi Viljoen is likely to hog the premier pace bowler’s spot. One of Jack Hunter, Tom Beaton and Travis Muller will take the other speedster’s position.

Kings are likely to open with Steve Murdoch and Leo Carter will accompany him.
