We are half-way into the Ford Trophy which is the 50-over domestic competition of New Zealand. Both the teams have played five matches and five are remaining. This is a clash between the two table-toppers. Wellington has won four out of its five matches and is the top-ranked side Otago is at the second position with three wins from five matches.

Riding on a strong performance Wellington clinched a fabulous 120-run win. Conway’s 94 and Neesham’s 67 carried the team to an impressive total of 278 all out. Nofal then returned with a three-wicket haul to skittle Auckland for only 158 runs.

Otago also won their last match as they defeated Canterbury by 62 runs. Hamish Rutherford played a wonderful inning of 154 which was the base of Otago’s total of 309 runs. He was supported by Anaru Kitchen and M Renwick. Matt Bacon led the bowling effort with three wickets, Viljoen and Rippon assisted with two wickets each.

Rutherford, Renwick and Broom will form the top order. Hicks, Kitchen, Finnie and Rippon will handle the middle-order.

J Duffy will lead the bowling attack alongside Nathan Smith. Bacon-Viljoen will support the pair.

Fletcher-Nofal-Conway-Bracewell will be the core of the batting unit.
