Proteas opening batsman ruled out with injury. Check details

South Africa faced a big blow on Day 2 of the first test in Centurian as the opening batsman Aiden Markram gets ruled out of the entire series with a fractured finger.

Proteas opening batsman suffered a fracture on the fourth left finger while fielding on the second day and is likely to remain off the field for at least six weeks. He is scheduled for surgery early next week.

“Aiden sustained a fracture affecting the distal joint of his left ring finger,” said Dr Shuaib Manjra, Cricket South Africa Chief Medical Officer.

Aiden Markram also fractured his right wrist on the recent India tour when he lashed out at a solid object in Pune ahead of the third test in Ranchi and missed the entire Mzansi Super League 2019.

England’s tour of South Africa that comprises of 4 tests, 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is and will run till February 16. The three ODIs will be played at Newlands Cape Town, Kingsmead Durban and The Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg on February 04, February 07 and February 09 respectively.
