Rahkeem Cornwall catch: When you normally see a 140 Kg and 6’6 ft tall person on a cricket field, you don’t necessarily expect him to take stunning catches. But St Lucia all-rounder Rahkeem Cornwall is ready to break all these stereotypes. In the latest CPL semifinal clash between St Lucia Zouks and Guyana Amazon Warriors, he pulled off a stunning catch by diving forward to end Guyana’s dismal batting performance.

Rahkeem Cornwall catch

The word ‘Athleticism’ is the last word you would probably associate with the bulky Rahkeem Cornwall. But Cornwall once again proved that his size is in no way a barrier to him while it comes to performing well on the field. It all happened in the 14th over of the first innings. Afghan spinner Zahir Khan was given the task by captain Sammy to finish of Guyana’s innings. They were 55-8 when Zahir came into bowl. He kept Sammy’s trust by picking up two quick wickets in the third and fourth ball, thereby wrapping up Guyana’s dismal stay at the batting crease. The last of those two wickets was courtesy of Cornwall’s brilliance in the field. Veteran Imran Tahir, who was batting at number 11, decided to slog-sweep Zahir, thereby taking an under-edge onto his pads which flew away to the slips. Cornwall who was stationed at slips was quick to notice that and he dived forward to complete a stunning catch.

Zouks march into the finals

Before the start of the match, Guyana Amazon Warriors were considered hot favourites to win this match, as they had so many match-winners in their line-up. But Captain Sammy and co. had other plans. Guyana batsmen were left clueless by the Zouks bowlers as they were forced to wrap up their innings for a mere score of 55. Opener Chandrapaul Hemaraj was the lone warrior for the warriors as he scored 25 runs, of the total 55 runs that his team scored. Zouks who came out to bat in the second innings seemed to be in a hurry as they finished the game in just 19 balls, courtesy of a 17 ball 32 from the big man Rahkeem Cornwall. This convincing win takes them to the Hero CPL 2020 finals. They will be facing the undefeated Trinbago Knight Riders in the Final tomorrow.
