MS Dhoni is one of the most celebrated cricketers in the history of world cricket. MS Dhoni is a brand and even in the twilight of his career, the brand that the man with the midas touch carries is refusing to bow down in the pecking order.

The man from Ranchi is called as Thala by his fans all over the world and playing for CSK had a huge role in earning that nickname for the legend. The nickname Thala is a tamizh word and it literally means head which can be interpreted as the leader of everyone.

That’s why we call Dhoni as Thala- Kasi Viswanathan

Like every other franchise, CSK has its support staff, scouting teams and coaching members. But do they really function?. The answer from the fans would be no. The team has been managed by one man in MS Dhoni and he steers the team according to his needs and the end result is for everybody to see.

When asked about the nickname of Dhoni, the CEO of CSK Kasi Viswanathan said,

Only one thing I know that he’s (Dhoni) able to get the best out of the team by himself. He’s able to get the best out of any member of the team. That’s why we call him Thala

Dhoni to be the CSK Boss?

MS Dhoni was one of the handful of players who didn’t had the icon player status at the 2008 auction as there wasn’t any franchise based out of his native like Sourav Ganguly for Kolkata Knight Riders or Yuvraj Dingh for Punjab or Sachin Tendulkar for Mumbai Indians who all didn’t even make the auction table as they were signed by their home franchise before the auction. The then Indian captain along with Suresh Raina were the noticeable names who went under the hammer in 2008 auction.

After 12 years, it was no one out of those icon players made their team a successful franchise like the way Dhoni succeeded with CSK. He has became a household name among the chennaites and there is every chance that MS Dhoni might continue to be a part of CSK even after his retirement. Here’s what Kasi Viswanathan had to say,

In 10 years from now, my feeling is that he’ll be a permanent fixture in Chennai as the Chennai Super Kings Boss
