The third ODI was shortened to 21-overs each side with the rain playing spoilsport. Batting first, Sri Lanka were off to a flyer as they posted 55 in the first five overs. Tom Curran and Adil Rashid quickly pulled back the things as they picked up wickets in heap. Dickwella, Samarwickrama, Chandimal and Shanaka contributed with the bat as SL reached 150/9 in 21 overs. Rashid grabbed four wickets while Curran ended with three.

Amila Aponso struck two blows initially but Jason Roy diffused the situation his 41 from 26 balls. After Roy’s departure, E Morgan and Ben Stokes raised the match-winning stand to take England over the winning line with 15 balls remaining. Morgan scored 58 from 49 balls while Stokes crafted 35 from 24 balls.

• Sri Lanka also dropped Upul Tharanga and included S Samarawickrama.

• For this match, Sri Lanka can think about bringing back Upul Tharanga in place of K Mendis.
• They can also include D Chameera for N Pradeep.

England: 

• Jonny Bairstow Doubtful for 4th one-day, he was injured in training session.He will be assessed by England’s medical team before the match. Whether he will be able to play or not. Alex Hales will be a most likely replacement.
• After the wedding, Liam Plunkett is also available for this match.
• Liam Dawson was injured and thus ruled out of the series.
• Pace bowler Tom Curran took his place in the side and performed brilliantly.
• England will like to field their full-strength team and seal the series with this win. No Change is required in winning combination but Whether England will play with the third spinner or not, after reviewing the pitch condition, the decision will be taken.
• If England team management wants then, they can include Joe Denly in place of Olly Stone.
