Ganguly is afraid of Virender Sehwag!

India reached the 2003 world cup final when no one gave them a chance in alien conditions in South Africa. India were easily the best team underneath Australia in that tournament and India had a brilliant squad to combat all the other teams as well.

The batting line up was packed with Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid who were all big superstars by then. The Indian bowling line up had Zaheer Khan, Ashish Nehra along with the veteran Javgal Srinath which was a top tier attack as well.

When Sourav Ganguly was asked to pick any 3 players from 2019 world cup squad who could fit into 2003 team in the show “DadaOpensWithMayank” which was hosted by the Indian opener Mayank Agarwal, he said

(Virat) Kohli, Rohit Sharma and (Jasprit) Bumrah. The quality of fast bowler (Bumrah). We played in South Africa, although we bowled exceptionally well in that series. Bumrah, Rohit and Virat would be in the middle. Rohit at the top, and I at no. 3. I don’t know maybe Sehwag might be listening to this and I would get a phone call tomorrow, ‘what the hell do you think’. But I would have these three in the squad.

Sourav Ganguly picks MS Dhoni as a wildcard option!

India didn’t had a first choice wicket keeper in the 2003 world cup as Rahul Dravid was the acting wicket keeper then for the betterment of the team. Sourav Ganguly further added that,

MS Dhoni also – but since you gave me three choices, I would have managed with Rahul Dravid behind the stumps, because I think he did a great job in the World Cup
