The much-awaited India vs Australia three-matches series kick-started at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai today. A formidable and full-strength Australia is most likely to give a tough competition to the hosts. They clinched 3-2 win in the five-match series after going down 0-2 when they toured India last time. And, something similar is expected again.

Sunil Gavaskar names three best runners

Meanwhile, Sunil Gavaskar revealed the three best runners in the current Indian side while having a chat with Murali Karthik in the commentary box at Wankhede Stadium. Here’s what Gavaskar said –

“Ravindra Jadeja, Virat Kohli and Mahendra Singh Dhoni are the three best runners in the Indian team. One is back in the pavilion while the other is not in the side.”

Gavaskar, here, was talking about a run-out appeal for Ravindra Jadeja. Virat Kohli is the one he was referring to being back in the pavilion after getting caught and bowled by Adam Zampa while MS Dhoni, as we all know, is out of the current side due to his sabbatical after WC 2019 semi-final exit.

“I keep telling myself, why didn’t I dive – MS Dhoni on WC run out

The most heartbreaking moment for India fans in 2019 was the run out of Mahendra Singh Dhoni in the WC 2019 semi-final against New Zealand. With 31 needed off the final two overs and MS Dhoni standing at the crease, India still had the hopes alive. But it all came to an end with a brilliant throw from Martin Guptill. Here’s what MS Dhoni said after being asked about that throw –

“I keep telling myself, why didn’t I dive. Those two inches I keep telling myself, ‘MS Dhoni, you should have dived”

Since then MS Dhoni hasn’t played any competitive cricket match and has also made himself unavailable from the team selection. The former Indian skipper is most likely to feature in the IPL 2020 and lead his franchise Chennai Super Kings in the competition.
