Australia has brushed aside New Zealand and Pakistan in their home summer and rose to No.2  in the World Test Championship table only behind the leaders Team India.

Dominant Summer

In the last 12 months in test cricket, Australia has been ruthless. Since the return of their stalwarts, Smith and Warner, Australia has looked a completely different outfit altogether.

Australia has developed leaps and bounces in test cricket since their series defeat to India in Australia. Since then Australia has retained the Ashes in England, whitewashed Pakistan 2-0, and hammered the New Zealanders who are currently the #2 side in the world 3-0.

Aussie has unearthed new talent, in Marnus Labuschagne, who is already a test superstar and the No. 4 batsman in tests. They look a completely different side and slowly starting to dominate the world cricket which they were familiar with.

Tim Paine eyes “mouth-watering” series against India

The Australian captain looked very confident when asked about the series against India next summer.

He also iterated the important tour to Bangladesh in the mid of 2020 and said that they won’t be taking Bangladesh lightly.

“If we go to Bangladesh and play well and get some wins over there, then we comeback to Australia playing India, and that’s a pretty mouth-watering series for players and for fans.

It’s hard not to be looking at the India-Australia series, and we have got some people at cricket Australia already looking ahead to that series. But for the main playing group, our next goal is Bangladesh and we certainly can’t take that lightly”.

A battle of quicks

Tim Paine also mentioned that the Indian pacers are full of quality and said that they definitely won’t forget the way they performed here last summer.

“They showed last year they’ve got a pace battery that’s going to be every bit as good as ours so it’s going to be one to watch”, Paine said after their thumping series win over the Kiwis.

Australia next plays a test match against Bangladesh in Bangladesh in the June for a 2 match test series which will be included in the World Test Championship.

As of now, Australia has solidified its position and looking good for a top 2 finish in WTC.
