In case you didn’t know:

England hosted Ireland at Southampton in the opening game of the 3-match  ODI series on Thursday. The captain of the English side – Eoin Morgan won the toss and invited Ireland to bat first. England managed to contain Ireland on a below-par total of 172/10. David Willy was the superstar for England as he registered a five-for with the ball. Only the debutant Curtis Campher (59 runs) and Andy McBrine (40 runs) could put up a fight with the bat.

Chasing the target, the top-order of England failed to impress as no batsman from the top-4 could play a substantial knock. However, Sam Billings ( 67 not out) and Eoin Morgan ( 36 not out) added 96 runs together to chase down the target comfortably. Only Craig Young could trouble the English batsmen up to an extent as he finished with 2 wickets. England managed to win the game by 6 wickets and David Willy was deservingly awarded the man of the match.
