The inevitable has happened and Saurashtra have entered the finals for the 2nd consecutive time under the able leadership of Jaydev Undakat. The team that had a heartbreak at the last season when they lost the finals to the Vidarbha after having done all the hard work.

Jaydev Unadkat’s brilliant reflexes removes Axar Patel

It was a fitting end to the Ranji trophy semi final as Saurashtra clinched an absolute humdinger of a game as they knocked out Gujarat not before Gujarat putting up a commendable effort with the bat on difficult batting conditions.

Gujarat was given a stiff target of 323 runs in the 4th Innings to fill the spot available in the final and even a draw wouldn’t had been enough for Gujarat as they didn’t go past Saurashtra’s first innings total. It was nothing but win was the only thing they were after but Saurashtra were too hot for them to handle as they lost the game by 92 runs.

The Saurashtra captain Jaydev Unadkat while going through a majestic spell of fast bowling took a brilliant return catch to remove the all-rounder Axar Patel thereby becoming 2nd most wicket-taker in a single Ranji season. He finished with 64 wickets in this edition of Ranji trophy which turned out to be an astonishing season for him with still the all important finals to be played.
