The whole of India stumbled when Guptill hit the bull’s eye to remove Dhoni in the 2019 world cup semi final which is still haunting Indians. A similar incident took place in the 1st T20I when Guptill took a stunner to dismiss the Indian skipper

A live wire in the field
The New Zealander who is one of the only two batsmen to hit 200 in a world cup game took a stunner to dismiss Virat Kohli in today’s T20I game when the game was evenly poised.

New Zealand had racked up 203 runs on the board after the Indian skipper asked the Kiwis to bat first. India lost their vice captain Rohit Sharma early in the chase but the newly designated wicket-keeper KL Rahul and the Indian skipper kept India in the game with eye-catching strokes. K L Rahul departed after scoring his 50 in the 10th over but there was still Virat Kohli going all guns blazing at the other end. When India needed 84 odd runs from 8 odd overs, Guptill took this stunner to dismiss Virat. The skipper departed for a well made 45 off 32 deliveries. The jaw-dropping catch from Guptill brought back the haunting run out which he effected in the 2019 World cup semi final.

Fantastic knock from Iyer
India benched Sanju Samson and Pant and played Iyer and Pandey ahead of them and it worked out big time for India as both the dashing right handers did the job neatly and stayed till the end to take India home. Shreyas Iyer who was susceptible to short pitch bowling thrashed the Kiwi fast bowlers all around the park and notched up a well compiled half century and remained unbeaten on 58 of just 29 deliveries.

2nd T20I is scheduled to take place at the same venue on Sunday.
