During the match between Multan Sultans and Peshawar Zalmi, the Zalmi captain Wahab Riaz got out to a blinder of a catch at slips by Moeen Ali of Sohail Tanvir’s bowling.

Ali takes a blinder

Zalmi skipper Wahab Riaz shocked everyone as he came out to bat at the fall of first wicket. The move was to use himself ad a slogger in the  powerplay. But this out of the box move didnt help them in any way as he got out for 3 runs from 7 balls. He placed the ball to the slips of Sohail Tanvir’s bowling only to allow Moeen Ali at slips to jump metres to his right to take probably one of the catches of the tournament.

Multan Sultans survives over Zalmi

Multan Sultans clinched first place outright in the league stage in thrilling fashion as a brilliant death bowling spell from Ali Shafiq secured a three-run win over Peshawar Zalmi defending a total of 154.

With 27 needed off 18 balls, Shafiq bowled a masterful 18th over in which he claimed the wickets of Haider Ali and Shoaib Malik while conceding just two runs.

Moreover he defended 15 off the last over. He bowled two successive no-balls in the last over but that couldn’t prevent the Sultans in registering their sixth victory of this tournament.

Impressive start

The Sultans total was set up by a brilliant half-century from Zeeshan Ashraf. The left-hander scored 52 runs off 39 balls to take them to a competitive total.

Imam-ul-Haq fought back for Zalmi with a half-century of his own to help his side rebound from a rocky start to the chase of 8 for 2. But Imam’s wicket, miscuing a drive off Sohail Tanvir to mid-off for 56 in the 17th over, killed Zalmi’s momentum. From a position of needing a very manageable 29 off 21 balls, they lost three wickets for four runs in the space of nine balls to set up the dramatic last-over finish in which Sultans ultimately prevailed.
