The former Australian captain and world cup winning member Steve Smith has seen a slight dip in form after scoring mountains of runs since his comeback from ball tampering scandal. The whitewash against the resurgent Proteas would have hurt the in-form Australians big time.

Now that the Australians have a chance to make up for their loss against the Proteas, they will be fighting hard to get back to winning ways against the world cup runners-up Kiwis.

Though the 50 over series is irrelevant in this year as most of the teams will be looking to prepare themselves for the WT20 that is set to happen in October, match practice is something that the teams will make use of with this series.

Ringing the old memories

The Kiwis have announced that they will be using their retro kit for this series against Australia which received astonishing response from the fans.

The Kiwi players were thrilled to wear the retro kit which many legends worn during their playing days.

The Aussies too joined the party when they announced that their players will be taking the field with their retro kits. It was the jersey with which the Australians started their domination in the world cricket with a world cup in 1999.

Smith gets cheeky and trolls the former players

The #1 batsman in the test format Steve Smith was seen excited to play with this jersey as he was seen in full flow in the net session. When he was asked about the jersey, Steve Smith said “Now that we wear these helmets, do we strike at 60?. Ok, 70? Ten-overs, four-maidens, 2-30? Lucky the game’s evolved, eh?”

The former captain will be eager to get back into his beast mode as he failed miserably in the recently concluded 3 match ODI series against the Proteas.

The Chappell-Hadlee series will kick start on Friday in Sydney cricket ground.
