Former India skipper MS Dhoni bashed many bowlers throughout his career. He took the case of spinners and pacers equally as he was regarded as one of the biggest hitters of the cricket ball. But who was the toughest pace bowler he had faced during his illustrious career? In a conversation with current Indian skipper Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni revealed that Shoaib Akhtar was the toughest bowler he faced in his career.

MS Dhoni revealed the name of toughest bowler he faced

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, in a conversation with Virat Kohli, revealed that Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar was the toughest bowler he had faced during his playing days.

All the fast bowlers are quite difficult, with the limited technique I had, it was very difficult to face the fast bowlers. Still, if I had to pick one, I would pick Shoaib Akhtar.

Said MS Dhoni. ‘Mahi’ only played 10 matches in total against Akhtar in both formats ODIs and Tests (5 Test matches and 5 One-Day Internationals). On asked upon why he rated Akhtar over the likes of Dale Steyn, Brett Lee, Stuart Broad, James Anderson and Morne Morkel, Dhoni said the unpredictability of Shoaib made him a unique bowler to face.

Very simple reason: he was quick, he was fast, he could bowl a yorker, he could bowl a bouncer but you never expected a beamer. He was a bit unpredictable (but) he was fun to play against.
