Yuvraj Singh taunts Ravi Shastri over 2011 World Cup tweet, Indian coach makes comeback

Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh took a hilarious dig at Ravi Shastri over the latter’s congratulatory tweet on India’s 2011 World Cup triumph. The 2nd of April 2020 marked the 9th anniversary of India’s World Cup victory at the Wankhede Stadium. India claimed their 2nd ever World Cup and the first in 28 years by defeating Sri Lanka by 6 wickets.

India had a tough challenge against a spirited Sri Lankan team which defied all odds to reach odds 2 reach their 2nd consecutive World Cup final . While batting first, Sri Lanka did well owing to a classy Mahela Jayawardene (103 not out, 88 balls, 13 fours) century to post a challenging total for the Indians of 274/6.

In reply, Sri Lanka shocked India by taking 2 quick wickets of Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar. Gautam Gambhir then bailed India out of trouble alongside Virat Kohli to form a partnership. After Kohli’s wicket, Gambhir, alongside Dhoni ensured India of a World Cup win. The Indian cricket fraternity and fans remembered the famous victory and celebrated the 9th anniversary of the famous win.

Indian Coach Ravi Sashtri congratulated Team India

Indian coach Ravi Shastri also took to Twitter to congratulate the World Cup-winning Indian team. However, Ravi Sashtri only tagged Sachin Tendulkar and the current Indian skipper Virat Kohli in the tweet. Ravi wrote –

“Many Congratulations Guys! Something you will cherish all your life. Just like we from the 1983 group.”

Yuvraj Singh was quick to notice that Ravi Sashtri has only tagged Sachin and Kohli and taunted the Indian coach for not tagging him and MS Dhoni by writing –

“Thanks senior ! U can tag me and mahi also we were also part of it Face with tears of joy”

Ravi Shastri made a comeback

Shastri is known for his quick wit, and he wasn’t going to back down from this banter. The Indian coach replied to Yuvraj –

“When it comes to World Cups, you are no junior. Tussi Legend ho.”

Yuvraj Singh was the chief architect of India’s 2011 World Cup victory. He was also the Man of the Tournament owing for his stunning all-round performances in the competition.
