Bangladesh Cricket Board has planned to conduct a 2 Match T20I series between Asia XI and World XI to mark the birth centenary of the nation’s founding father Sheikh Mujeeb Ur Rahman. BCB also got the approval from ICC to conduct the tournament in March 2020.

Dhoni Likely to feature

A source close to BCCI has confirmed that they will send 5 players from India to take part in the grand event. There have been speculations that Dhoni has been requested by BCCI to take part in this series which makes the event to attain even more popularity worldwide. MS Dhoni has been out of action since the semi-final loss to New Zealand. He has made himself unavailable for all the limited-overs tournaments since then. If Dhoni accepts the invitation and plays in the tournament, then that will mark the return of Dhoni to the competitive cricket after a good part of 9 months.

Hardik to make a comeback

Hardik Pandya who was last seen in Indian colors against South Africa earlier this year in T20Is also has been rumored to return to play in the 2-match T20I series for Asia XI. Hardik has been currently going through the rehabilitation phase and is eyeing a return to the International side for the upcoming New Zealand series.  The other Indian players who might don the Asia XI jersey are Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and JaspritBumrah.

No Pakistani cricketers

There will be no Pakistan players in the Asia XI set up as PSL is taking part at the same time. Asia XI also will be without world’s best limited-overs all-rounder Shakib-al- Hassan who is currently serving a ban for not reporting an approach made by a bookie for match-fixing
