Team India’s front-line wrist spinner Yuzvendra Chahal recently stated that Pakistan’s veteran batsman Shoaib Malik is a much better player of spin bowling instead of Australia’s star man Steve Smith. Chahal during a live session on Instagram, expressed that it was during the Asia Cup of 2018 when he made a keen observation of Malik’s ability to play spin.

The 29-year-old didn’t shy  away from making a bold comment in favour of Shoaib Malik over one of the most consistent batsman of modern day cricket Steve Smith.Shoaib Malik has featured in 287 ODIs, 113 T20Is and 35 Tests for Pakistan, while scoring 11753 runs in the process.

Shoaib Malik over Steve Smith

I was bowling to Malik during the Asia Cup and was impressed with the way he was taking singles of good deliveries. I realised that this player has a lot of experience and I think he is better than Steve Smith when it comes to playing spin bowling, Chahal said.

Other than that, Yuzvendra Chahal also commented on other batsmen who have done well with the bat in the similar department. According to Chahal, team mates Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, along with New Zealand’s captain Kane Williamson, and Joe Root also made the cut.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma quality players of spin

Virat and Rohit are obviously quality players of spin bowling so they will be at the top, said Chahal.

Also Williamson makes life difficult for spin bowlers because he plays the ball really late, especially on a pitch that is slow.

As a result of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, all cricketers across the globe are locked in their houses but are taking the time out in live sessions on social media in which they talk about certain players, memories and much more.
