Indian cricket team faced a big blow on Thursday when Deepak Chahar got ruled out of the squad ahead of the third ODI against Windies in Cuttack on Sunday. The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Navdeep Saini as his replacement.

Deepak Chahar complained about mild pain in his lower back after the second ODI in Vizag and thus has been ruled out of the series-deciding final ODI in Cuttack. India bounced back in style at Vizag to level the 1-0 lead Windies took in Chennai. Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer were instrumental with the bat while Kuldeep Yadav bagged his second hat-trick in ODI in the series-levelling 107 runs win on Wednesday. Now, the series-decider or the final ODI will be at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on Sunday.

Unlike T20Is, Deepak Chahar has had an average outing in the two ODIs. He picked a wicket in the first ODI at Chennai and remained wicketless at Vizag.

Navdeep Saini hasn’t played any ODI cricket for India and last featured in a T20I series against South Africa in September. He missed the T20Is against Bangladesh due to an injury and will join the team in Cuttack as the third seamer alongside Mohammed Shami and Shardul Thakur.

India’s squad for 3 ODIs: Virat Kohli (C), Rohit Sharma (VC), Ravindra Jadeja, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Mayank Agarwal, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey, Rishabh Pant (WK), Shivam Dube, Kedar Jadhav, Mohammed Shami, Shardul Thakur, Navdeep Saini
