KXIP bought the West Indian fast bowler Sheldon Cottrell for a whopping 8.5 crore in the auction prior to IPL 2020. They played him in all the 6 games so far in which they have won only 1 game. Sheldon Cottrell did a very good job with the new ball for them but his bowling at death was a big concern for them as he was handled easily at death. He was even taken for 30 runs in one over in Sharjah by Rahul Tewatia.
The tournament has well and truly entered the second leg as all teams have more or less played 6 games and this phase of the tournament will decide the fate of the teams big time. KXIP have suffered a huge blow as Sheldon Cottrell is injured and might miss a game or two as per KL Rahul who revealed the news at the toss.
The demand for left arm bowlers in modern day white ball cricket is immense and Sheldon Cottrell being a tall left arm seamer added immense value to KXIP’s attack as far as new ball bowling is concerned. He was giving consistent breakthroughs and kept the teams at bay with some good new ball spells where he got some swing.
He has 6 wickets in the tournament so far in 6 games and he might not play for another 3 games in this season. KXIP will look to fill his void by playing another left arm seamer in Arshdeep Singh who was impressive in the previous game.
The universal BOSS is yet to play a game in this season so far and Anil Kumble said that Chris Gayle should have played in the previous game against SRH if not for his sickness and it was expected that he would play in the game against KKR but his name went missing in the playing11 for one more time.
KXIP are in desperate need for a victory and the game KKR will be a make or break game for them in this season.
