Rohit Sharma had a fantastic 2019 and is now on a break from international cricket as India host Sri Lanka for the T20I series.

“It hurts when families are dragged”, says Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma opened up about the controversy that emerged after the ICC World Cup as there were reports of senior players extending their family’s stay beyond the agreed number of days, and Rohit said he felt hurt at dragging families into it.

“Our families are there to support us, make us feel happy. When all these things were being written about, few of my friends came and told me and believe me or not, I was just laughing.

But then it went on and on and they dragged my family and that was not on. You talk about me but don’t drag my family as they genuinely don’t care about anything else”

Highest run-getter across formats as an opener

Rohit Sharma broke the long-standing Sanath Jayasuriya’s record for the most number of runs in a calendar year for an opener in the year 2019.

Rohit started the year with 4th IPL title as a captain of Mumbai Indians, then went on to score five hundred in the World Cup 2019, the most in a single edition.

The Indian opener turned the tables when he smashed a double century opening the innings in the test match against South Africa and many more. Rohit is ranked second in ICC ODI batsmen rankings. and has catapulted into the top 15 in tests after being promoted to open the innings.

It was a  year to remember for Rohit not just on the cricketing front but also he became the father which he cherished a lot.

Rohit Sharma will be back in action for India in the 3-match ODI series against Australia starting on 14th January.
