The Indian team is on a roll right now as whatever they are touching is turning into gold. Right from the home series against South Africa, they have been a pillar of consistency.

After contemplating West Indies in the T20 series, the Men in Blue will turn their focus into the ODIs when the first of the three ODIs will be played at the Chepauk in Chennai on December 15th. However, going into the ODI series, the home side has struck with a major injury concern in the form of Bhuvneshwar Kumar who looked decent in the recently concluded T20Is.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar uncertain for the first ODI

According to Mumbai Mirror, the pacer has complained of pain and is uncertain of the first ODI to be played at the Chepauk on December 15th. He felt discomfort in the last T20I which was played at the Wankhede in Mumbai.

The team reached Chennai on Thursday afternoon and soon after reaching the pacer complained about pain to the team management. It is still unknown whether a replacement will be named or not from the BCCI as this totally depends on the seriousness of the injury. If needed, the team management might name his replacement.

Prior to the start of the series, left-hand opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan was ruled out due to a knee injury which he sustained in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and this could be the second such concern. Mayank Agarwal got a call-up in the ODIs as Shikhar’s replacement owing his tremendous form in Test cricket.

The ODI schedule

The first ODI will be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai followed by matches in Visakhapatnam and Cuttack. All three matches will be a day-night affair.
