Two years ago, in 2018, Dinesh Karthik’s pulled off a stunning last-ball six to help India win Nidahas Trophy Final against Bangladesh. When Karthik walked in to bat, India were up against the odds and staring at defeat. Then came, one of the best innings off Dinesh Karthik’s blade.
India required 34 off 12 balls. To make matters worse, out-of-sorts Vijay Shankar was batting at the other end. When it was looking like a scarcely believable, Karthik slammed 22 runs off the penultimate over to get India back in it.
The game went down to the wire, with five required off the final ball. It was Dinesh Karthik’s moment. Much to Karthik’s liking, Soumya Sarkar served him a half volley. Karthik pummeled it extra cover fence to hand India a memorable victory.
