One team has qualified for the renowned Ranji trophy finals in Bengal by beating the full strength Karnataka who were also touted to be the tournament favorites till that point in time.

Now with one spot left to be filled, Parthiv Patel led Gujarat and Jaydev Unadkat led Saurashtra are fighting it hard in the other semi final game at Rajkot.

The game is been closely contested and now will go in to the day 5 of the test with Gujarat needing another massive 320 runs with 9 wickets in hand.

Axar Patel’s acrobatic run out stunned the batsman

On day 4 of the game, when Saurashtra was trying to drag their lead, the all-rounder Arpit Vasavada tried to push a cheeky single and the non-striker Chetan Sakariya responded in believing his partner but what followed was an absolute masterclass from Axar Patel who came from point and hit the bull’s eye that saw the back of Chetan Sakariya who was playing a sensible innings till that point in time.

Here’s the video clip that shows the brilliance of Axar Patel in the field.

Saurashtra after being in a very insecure situation have managed to set a mammoth target for the Gujarat. The southpaw Arpit Vasavada played a marathon innings and scored a brilliant century for his team when his team really needed him. He made 139 runs from 230 Balls that included 16 boundaries and 1 maximum.

2nd consecutive final in touching distance for Saurashtra

Gujarat finished day 4 on 7 runs for the loss of 1 wicket. It is always a difficult task to play on the 5th day of an Indian pitch and with Gujarat needing to chase 329, it is more or less a near impossible task.

Saurashtra will make the finals if the match ends in a draw thanks to their first innings lead.

All in all, Saurashtra have confirmed their birth in the finals for the 2nd time in as many years and will be looking to go one step further by winning the trophy this time unlike last season where they lost to Vidarbha.
