The Sheldon Cottrell Salute!

It was in the third over of the first innings in match number 23 of Hero CPL that we all saw the trademark Sheldon Cottrell salute celebration. Amir Jangoo who was playing his first CPL game in three years didn’t have the lucky gods smiling on him. He nudged a hip high delivery from Sheldon Cottrell and tried to scamper for a single but the bowler was too quick in his follow through and one handed pick up to hit the bulls eye.

The commentators on air at that time Darren Ganga didn’t initially think that it was out and assumed that Amir Jangoo had made his ground but the swiftness of Sheldon Cottrell caught the batsman an inch short of his crease.

TKR with a huge win, maintains perfect record.

The Trinbago Knight Riders won their 8th consecutive match of 2020 Hero CPL to stay on top of the league and maintain their perfect all win record. The match number 23 of CPL saw already top of the table TKR take on bottom placed St. Kitte and Nevis Patriots at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad.

The fantastic run out shown above did not faze Lendl Simmons as he blasted his way to 96 off 63 and was supported by Darren Bravo who had a run a ball 36. Then it was up to the bowlers to defend a huge target of 175 which they did easily. Special mention to 48 year old Indian leggie Pravin Tambe who played just his second match this season and returned with figures of 1 for 12 in his 4 overs. No notable contributions from SNP batsmen meant only Chris Lynn could struggle his way to a meaningless 34 off 46 while Joshua Da Silva scored run a ball 29 and everyone else registered single digit scores. In the end TKR won by 59 runs.
