Australia began the 3-match T20I series with a magnificent win over their neighbors. The action now moves on from Sydney to Brisbane as we gear up for the second T20I. In the first match yesterday, AU-W won the toss and elected to field first.

Sophie Devine started the proceedings with a splendid knock of 43 from 33 balls while her partners kept falling one by one. It was the wicket-keeper K Martin who then grabbed the eyeballs and scored a fabulous 56. Ashleigh Gardner and Ellyse Perry were the picks of the bowlers for Australia.

Chasing 163 runs to win, Australian top order collapsed and soon the team found itself floundering at 45/4 in the first five overs. Captain Meg Lanning and Rachael Haynes then stitched a record partnership of 119 runs for the fifth wicket to guide the team home with 14 balls to spare. L Kasperek and S Devine took two wickets each for NZ-W.

Young uncapped fast bowler Tayla Vlaeminck miss 1st T20I due to quad strain. but positive signs for match 2 as she returned to the nets yesterday in Drummoyne. Tayla Vlaeminck will have a late fitness test.
Young spinner Georgia Wareham made her debut and picked up a wicket as well but bowled only one over.
Australia dropped Nicola Carey for this match. They will be tempted to include her in place of the medium-pace bowler D Kimmince who conceded 37 runs in her four overs.

New Zealand-Women:

NZ-W is likely to be unchanged in their batting department.
They have K.Ebrahim and Holly Huddleston as reserves and Holly Huddleston or Ebrahim may receive a call-up in the team.
Hayley Jensen conceded 28 runs in her 2.4 overs while Ebrahim did well in the warm-up match before the series.
