The CMR vs NGA Dream11 match preview –

The African cup of nations has now reached it’s knockout phase. Cameroon face Nigeria in the Round of 16 clash. Both Cameroon and Nigeria come into this game with a reputation of being unpredictable and erratic.

Nigeria faced a shock defeat against Madagascar in their final encounter of the group phase and consequently finished second in their group. The other two games that they played in the group were also less than convincing for a side of the caliber of Nigeria.

Cameroon, on the other hand drew their final league game against a resolute and stubborn Benin. The result came as a shock because they had 72% of the ball and even had 11 shots on goal but failed to score,

Coming into this important game both the teams will look to step their game up a notch and proceed to the quarterfinals

CMR vs NGA Team News

Cameroon

  • Manager Seedorf will be know that the defending champions will have to find a way to score goals from somewhere. He played a 4-3-3 formation in the win against Guinea- Bissau and is likely to revert to the same after the other formations failed to produce results against Ghana and Benin
  • The manager will be tempted to play Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting in a more advanced role alongside Ekambi and Bassogog. Stéphane Bahoken was preferred over Bassogog in the previous game but it is expected that they will back Ekambi and Bassogog with Bahoken’s performance being disappointing.
  • There are no injuries or suspensions for Cameroon which gives the manager enough options to choose from.

Nigeria

  • The shock defeat to Madagascar is likely to shake things up for Nigeria. The manager is likely to start with a strong 11 for this do or die clash and is expected to bring back his best players.
  • Nigeria were dreadful in defense in the game against Madagascar and will look to strengthen that aspect of their game in this quarterfinal clash. Kenneth Omeruo and Daniel Akpeyi are expected to return in defence and goal respectively and look to shield the attacking threat of the likes of Choupo-Moting.
  • Nigeria will expect their forward thinking players like Iwobi and Ighalo to create and score goals and show more creativity and finishing skills in the final third of the pitch. Both of them are players to watch out for.

CMR vs NGA Fantasy Football Picks-

Cameroon

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting

The 30 year old PSG man hasn’t quite fired in this tournament but his physical presence and ability to score goals from midfield are a big asset for him and come the big game, he can be expected to deliver for his country. Playing for PSG in the previous season his stats are as below

Goals -8 Assists – 0

Christian Bassogog

The young striker who plays for the Chinese club Henan Jianye is a frequent creator and scorer of goals for his club. He hasn’t fired yet for the  national team but come the big game he will be expected to deliver the goods. His club stats for the season are as follows :

Goals -4 Assists -2

X factor – André-Frank Zambo Anguissa, is a quintessential box to box mid fielder, his work ethic and workrate for the team is next to none and is therefore a big factor in making Cameroon’s defence as resolute as it is. He has possession statistics of 85 % in this tournament and 87% for his club team Fulham

Nigeria

Moses Simon

He has been the best player in the tournament for Nigeria and will hope his form continues as Nigeria shake off their group stage cobwebs and try to take on Cameroon and beat them in this quarterfinal clash. He is an up and coming player and his stats for both his club and country read as follows

Goals -1 Assists -2

Alex Iwobi

Although he hasn’t come into his own in this tournament, his quality can not be questioned with his performances in the premier league with one of the top teams in the country Arsenal. His very impressive club stats (given below) must translate into form for his country and make his country overcome the Cameroon challenge

Goals : 3 Assists : 6

Xfactor – Kenneth Omeruo is expected to return at the heart of the Nigerian defence and ensure that his defence is a fortress that cannot be breached. He is also a threat in the set piece situation and already has a goal in the tournament against Guinea.

Goals : 1 Assists : 0
