Multan Sultans emerged victorious over Peshawar Zalmi to secure the table toppers tag at the closing stage of the tournament. English all rounder Moeen Ali produced a magical delivery in the match to dismiss the well set batsman Umar Amin.

Magical ball by Moeen Ali

On the last ball of the ninth over English all rounder Moeen Ali bowled a gem of a delivery to get rid of well set Umar Amin. That delivery spun right from the middle to clip the top of off stump.

Moeen gave enough flight to the ball to decieve the batsman and to knock him over. Amin looked in great touch and was slowly building his innings. He departed for 29 runs from 23 balls which included four boundaries.

Multan Sultans survives against Zalmi

Multan Sultans clinched first place outright in the league stage in thrilling fashion as a brilliant death bowling spell from Ali Shafiq secured a three-run win over Peshawar Zalmi defending a total of 154.

With 27 needed off 18 balls, Shafiq bowled a masterful 18th over in which he claimed the wickets of Haider Ali and Shoaib Malik while conceding just two runs.

Moreover he defended 15 off the last over. He bowled two successive no-balls in the last over but that couldn’t prevent the Sultans in registering their sixth victory of this tournament.

Impressive start

The Sultans total was set up by a brilliant half-century from Zeeshan Ashraf. The left-hander scored 52 runs off 39 balls to take them to a competitive total.

Imam-ul-Haq fought back for Zalmi with a half-century of his own to help his side rebound from a rocky start to the chase of 8 for 2. But Imam’s wicket, miscuing a drive off Sohail Tanvir to mid-off for 56 in the 17th over, killed Zalmi’s momentum. From a position of needing a very manageable 29 off 21 balls, they lost three wickets for four runs in the space of nine balls to set up the dramatic last-over finish in which Sultans ultimately prevailed.
