After being one of the most consistent sides in the IPL, Delhi Capitals failed to impress in the last edition. The absence of Rishabh Pant hurt them badly as they failed to cope without their star skipper. Furthermore, the form of their batters also let them down as the Delhi-based franchise failed to qualify for the playoffs.
Ahead of the IPL 2024, Delhi Capitals released many players from their squad. Going to the auctions, they had a massive budget of INR 28.95 crore with 9 slots to fill, including 4 overseas slots. They needed reinforcements in both the batting and bowling departments.
