Searching for their second title, Rajasthan Royals retained almost all of their first-choice players. The trade of Devdutt Padikkal to Lucknow Super Giants for Avesh Khan was a talking point but the Jaipur-based franchise failed to utilize the youngster properly.
With a purse of INR 14.5 crore remaining, Rajasthan Royals had to fill eight slots, including three overseas. However, they only needed to invest in the backup players.

Rajasthan Royals kickstarted their IPL 2024 auctions with a bang as they addressed the issue of a finisher in their very first signing. They shelled out INR 7.40 crore for West Indies big-hitter Rovman Powell. In the next bid, they signed an uncapped Indian Shubham Dubey for INR 5.80 crore.
During the latter stages of the auctions, the Jaipur-based franchise signed Tom Kohler-Cadmore for INR 40 lakh. Following that, they signed Abid Mushtaq for INR 20 lakh and they concluded the proceedings by signing the South African pacer Nandre Burger for INR 50 lakh.
Rajasthan Royals signed a total of only 22 players for the IPL 2024 and only INR 20 lakh left in their purse. They already had a settled squad at their disposal and were one of the most inactive teams during the auctions.
