India completely dominated England in the first ODI.

  • England got a good start and both J Roy and Bairstow batted positively till the fast bowlers bowled but as Kuldeep came wickets started falling in a row as he took 5 wickets among top 6 batsmen and six wickets in total. Only Buttler was able to bat good against India’s spin web and scored 53 runs at an healthy strike-rate. Ben Stokes was not in his prime scoring 50 in 103 balls.
  • While batting, Rohit and S Dhawan had a good start but Dhawan departed scoring 40 runs in 27 balls while Rohit continued to bat positively and stayed at the crease till reaching the target scoring 137* runs. Virat Kohli also played a good knock scoring 75 runs displaying his class.

England will hope to win the second ODI and stay alive in the ODI series whereas India would hope to pocket the series in the second ODI. Not only the ODI series but also the ODI rankings are on stake as India will become No 1 ODI team surpassing England if they defeat England by 3-0.
